Gases

This is a German Gas mask. The can is used to put the mask inside to make it more portible and easy access. The can has a string on it to Put over your neck.

Gas masks were often also put on horses to keep them alive and nto breathing in the poisen gas.

Gases where extremely dangerous because some where invisible and you could not see them. You didnt know they were coming untill it was already there. They started to use canaries to detect if a gas attack is coming. The canary would breah in the gas very fast and then it woul ddie very fast and then the soldiers woud try to put on their gas mask as soon as possible.
